Co-Pays Announced for Shift NursingThe state Department of Public Welfare announced last week at the Medical Assistance Advisory Committee meeting that it is establishing co-pays for shift nursing care and other services for children with special needs. The co-pays are expected to be implemented in September 2012, and would affect families with incomes at or above 200% of the federal poverty level, or $44,700 for a family of four. The amount of the co-pay would be capped at 5% of the family income. DPW estimates that this will affect approximately 38,107 families. PHA has requested a meeting with DPW to discuss the details of this initiative, especially the collection of the co-pays, which would fall on providers. Stay tuned to Connections for updates. |
