PHA Leadership Academy Graduates New Class of Tomorrow's Leaders

PHA's Leadership Academy Class of 2012

PHA last week held its annual Leadership Academy, a highly-individualized, two-day training program designed to assist supervisors and mid-level managers with the critical skills needed to become outstanding leaders.

Participants in PHA's Leadership Academy participate in a critical thinking exercise.

Twenty-four representatives from agencies across the state participated in the program.

Leadership Academy Instructor John Rinehart, a recognized management trainer with more than 20 years of experience, led participants through a variety of topics and exercises including improving communication skills, leadership assessment and styles, motivating and managing conflict, team building and relationship building.

"What I learned the two days at the Leadership Academy will enhance my leadership ability," said Angela Griffith, UCP Central PA, Capital Home Care. "I learned the importance of building relationships and how imperative it is to be successful as a leader. Thank you to John Rinehart, PHA, Representative Mauree Gingrich and the other participants who I had the opportunity to meet and learn with."

"I am so pleased that, even during a time when many agencies are tightening their belts, we had record attendance at our Leadership Academy," said Vicki Hoak, PHA CEO. "Investing in promising team members with leadership potential is one of the wisest investments our member agencies can make."
