What are YOUR Best Practices? Call for Entries for 2013 Awards Program

The 2013 Best Practices in Homecare and Hospice Awards Program is officially off and running, and PHA encourages all agencies to submit their best practices for consideration.

"Every agency has a success story and a gold standard program that has improved patient outcomes, operations, employee relations or made a mark on the communities it serves," said Vicki Hoak, PHA CEO. "This awards program is all about sharing successes and ideas to ensure that our agencies provide the best possible home health, hospice and homecare services."

Cindy Clark

PHA is pleased to announce that Cindy Clark, VNA of Western Pennsylvania, will be taking over for Fran Roebuck Kuhns, WRC Senior Services, as the new chair of the Best Practices program. Clark has served on the committee since its inception in 2009.

"I am honored to have been asked to take on the role of chair for the Best Practices program," Clark said. "As one of the original members of this group, I know how hard Fran has worked with us to develop the foundation for the awards competition. Ultimately, we have an excellent program in place now to reward the execution of creative quality efforts and to share those successes with our PHA membership."

"I have had the gift of being on the ground floor in the development of the PHA Best Practices committee," said Roebuck Kuhns, who served as chair for the past three years. "During my tenure I have experienced a high degree of learning with the opportunity to consider the best practices that our members are engaging in to continuously improve the quality of their care and services while promoting efficiency and cost effectiveness.

"I enthusiastically pass the gavel to Cindy, who will continue this journey of sharing best practices and promoting care at home," she added.

Awards are presented in four categories: Care & Services, Community Outreach & Advocacy, Human Resources Management and Operations Management. Entries must effectively demonstrate process and/or planning, staff involvement, measured improvement and an ability to be replicated.
