Infection Prevention and Control: Preparing for a Focused Survey

With the number of COVID cases decreasing and vaccinations underway, survey activities are increasing, and home health agencies and hospices need to know what to expect. Being prepared for a focused review of infection prevention and control activities, both administratively and during home visits, is paramount…not just for “passing a survey,” but for keeping your patients and staff safe. Join Mary McGoldrick, MS, RN, CRNI®, a Home Care and Hospice Consultant and Infection Preventionist, as she walks you through what surveyors are focusing on and how you can avoid the common infection prevention and control citations.

1. Describe what surveyors are focusing on during focused infection control surveys.

2. Identify how to avoid common infection control survey citations.

3. More effectively prepare for a home health and hospice focused infection control survey.
