Description: This webinar will cover current and expected new OSHA rules, common citations for homecare, home health and hospice, and what healthcare employers need to know about OSHA’s National Emphasis Program (NEP), focused on industries where workers have an increased potential exposure to COVID-19.
In response to President Biden’s January 21 Executive Order, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued revised COVID-19 guidance, raising a number of issues for employers to consider. The guidance focuses on implementing a workplace COVID-19 prevention program, including assigning a workplace coordinator, conducting a hazard assessment, and more. Among other things, it recommends that employers provide all workers with face coverings (unless their work requires a respirator), make COVID-19 vaccines available at no cost to eligible employees, and provide information and training on the benefits and safety of vaccination.
Although they are only recommendations for now, COVID-19 emergency temporary standards are expected soon, and home health providers are included in OSHA’s National Emphasis Program (NEP), which is focused on settings where workers have an increased potential exposure to COVID-19.
And apart from the recent activity, employers need to understand their existing obligations to keep their workforce and workplace safe, and to understand OSHA requirements.
