Description:
Agency leaders can
sometimes lose sleep over the latest publicly reported outcomes and Star R
atings numbers. They turn to OASIS training as the solution…and there are m
any available options out there. However, do most training options really s
peak to the front-line clinicians? OASIS data is the “PROP” that drives an
agency forward. If one of the blades of the
PROP-eller is not working
properly, the boat will still move forward but will lose power and efficie
ncy. This educational series uniquely provides clinicians with OASIS insigh
ts in four key areas, making the “big picture” of this data set relevant an
d understandable.
4 nursing CEs will be available for those w ho complete the entire series.
Webinar 1 – March 20
P<
/span>rocess Measures
Often identifiable by “yes/no”
response options, OASIS items that create process measure data can cause an
xiety in two key areas – documentation to support the selected response and
the negative perceptions if “no” is selected. This webinar will assist dat
a collectors and reviewers with making peace with both issues and ensure ac
curacy.
Webinar 2 – April 24
Often the least often discussed area of OASIS data collec
tion, risk adjustment creates the bigger picture of the patient complexity.
Many items are issues that cannot be “fixed” by providers but directly imp
act the plan of care. This session will highlight OASIS items that may be o
verlooked and undervalued by data collectors and reviewers.
Webinar 3 – May 21
Given the connection to Home Health Compare and St
ar Ratings, outcome measures are often the most discussed area of OASIS dat
a collection. An unintended consequence can be significant inconsistencies
between item responses. This session will highlight OASIS items that have co
nsistently presented challenges to data collectors and reviewers.
Webinar 4 – June 19
Payment
OASIS it
ems that directly impact payment receive much attention to ensure financial
viability. At times, they are emphasized to the point data collectors and
reviewers appear to only focus on them when it comes to accuracy. Data anal
ysis at levels all the way up to CMS support a concern that responses are s
elected to maximize payments and may not accurately reflect the needs of th
e patients served. This session will put payment items into a larger contex
t to ensure overall consistency when collecting and reviewing data.
