Description:
This highly interactive workshop fosters ICD-10 coding confidence and competence by providing participants with opportunities to demonstrate understanding of the course content. Case studies and exercises reinforce participant knowledge as they are asked to apply guidance presented. This self-assessment ensures mastery of the critical concepts needed for coding accuracy.

The Art of ICD-10-CM Coding: Critical Concepts for 2018 & Beyond is a two-day, highly interactive workshop led by national coding expert Sparkle Sparks, PT, MPT, COS-C, for intermediate coders who are familiar with the foundational concepts of coding.

Workshop topics:
• Selection & Sequencing Criteria for Primary & Secondary Diagnoses
• Use of Chapter Specific Guidelines for Accurate Code Selection
• Discussion of New ICD-10-CM Codes and Guidance for 2018
• Review of CMS’ OASIS Guidance for Home Health Coding
• Preview of Coding’s Impact on the Proposed HHGM Payment
• Model
• Application Exercises & Scenarios to Enhance Coding Skills

Please note: a current ICD-10-CM Coding Manual is required for class participation. Also, all participants are required to read pages 8-18 of the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting for 2018 (https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/icd/10cmguidelines_fy2018_final.pdf) prior to the workshop.

The Home Care Coding Specialist – Diagnosis (HCS-D) Exam will be offered the following day on March 9. This optional exam has a separate registration and fee. Click here  to register for the exam.

Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will receive 13 nursing CEs and 13 continuing education units from the Board of Medical Specialty Coding and Compliance.

Cancellation Policy: PHA will provide a credit in place of any cancelled session, event or product that has been paid for in advance. The credit may go toward any session, event or product to be used within a one-year period from the date of cancellation. The amount of the credit will be minus 25% of the cost of the original purchase price. No credit will be given for no-shows or for cancellations within three weeks of the session.
